Mary,
It is to your tender love
that I owe all the favours
that your Divine Son has granted me.
Complete your work; watch over me constantly
so that I may remain faithful.
Obtain for me the graces necessary to triumph over my carelessness
and overcome all the obstacles that I meet.
I place myself in your hands,
O my Mother; you will have to carry me
along the road of salvation.
Whether your Divine Son has destined
sufferings or consolations for me is of no importance.
What matters is that my will should be conformed to his
in every circumstance of my life
and that I love him more than anything
until the day of my death.
(Rule of Life written at Saint Sulpice
in July 1819)
